7 reasons you should start collecting Orange / Lemon Peels

Lemons are versatile and they are natural options for beauty, cleaning, cooking and many more useful things. They not only enhances taste of food but they have great smell and most importantly they have antibacterial properties to kill germs and bacteria.
We already use lemon juice for so many household purposes but don't toss away those peels after squeezing the lemons or oranges. Use the juice, pulp and rind and all of it. Hold on to the lemon and orange rinds and let's check out some clever ways of how we can use them to its fullest and why we should collect for various domestic purposes.
1) Sanitising the chopping board:- Rub the used lemon peel on the board and let it rest for 5 mins. We are using the board to cut to vegetables, meat , fish etc. To ensure that bacteria is not growing in them by rubbing the peels on them sanitizes and they are fresh and clean.
2) Skin lightener:- Lemon has citric acid in them which is a natural bleaching agent. Take some left over peels and rub them on your elbows, heels and face. Lemon is a very effective skin lightener. Rubbing them on areas especially elbows, underarms and heels it helps restoring softness and smoothens the area.
3) Remove grease and stain from clothing:- If you have lemon which is half squeezed and have some juice left in it, simply rub the left over lemon half on the grease or the stain on the garment and leave it for few hours. If the stain is tough add 1/2 tspn of baking soda on the area where the lemon has been rubbed already and then scrub thoroughly. It does remove stain effectively.
4) Orange Candle:- Cut an orange in half and carefully scoop the fruit out leaving the white stem intact. Then fill the orange bowl with any oil you like and use the stem to light it and use it as natural wick. And look you have a natural orange candle which you place in the kitchen or dining area for fresh fragrance.
5) Kitchen secret:- You can use the orange peel as a natural sponge to clean your stove top. Just rub the orange peel on the stove top and it will clean the surface and give a nice citrusy fresh fragrance.
6) Lemon scented humidifier:- In a small pan boil some water with lots of lemon peels, cinnamon and cloves. Simmer this in lowest heat and let the aroma of delicious citric scent the air and humidify the room.
